Here’s the status of my ongoing quest to see all of Woody Allen’s movies. Films I’ve seen are crossed off the list, and given a letter grade.
In the interest of full disclosure, let me admit my biases up front: I’m a bit of a Woody Allen fan. Most of the time, I go into one of his movies wanting to like it, and so there may be some grade inflation at work here. But I still stand by my assertion that Everybody Says I Love You really was a very good movie.
And without further ado…

Other Notes
- My favorites—as of January, 2006—are Crimes and Misdemeanors and Annie Hall. The only thing that stops me from putting his latest, Match Point, on that list is that it’s too new to gain accurate perspective.
- I thought that Allen’s Where did it all go wrong movies from the mid 1990s (Celebrity, Deconstructing Harry and Mighty Aphrodite), deserve more credit than they get, although they all tend to bleed together after a while.
- My Least favorite films—as of January, 2006—are Anything Else, Hollywood Ending, and What’s New, Pussycat.
- Radio Days has no discernable plot, but it’s still pretty good.
- Thanks also to Hollywood Express, which has four conveniently-located stores in Cambridge and Somerville, Mass.
- The list of films comes from IMDB. Let me know if there’s anything missing.
