And so, we begin again. I have installed a new site-management tool (WordPress), which is much easier to use and much more feature-rich than the old tool (Greymatter). Greymatter was good, but it was slow to update, difficult to configure, and built on circa-1997 technology. Plus, I think the developer has abandoned the project. WordPress offers better tools for entry categorization and searching, and will also allow me to generate RSS feeds from the site, for which I’ve received a few requests. I think I may lose something in terms of layout flexibility, but I’m determined to get to the bottom of that one. I think there’s a way to import the old blog entries into the new format. If worse comes to worse, I may simply cut and paste the old text and back-date the entries. Either way, there may be some self-editing that takes place along the way.

Finally, I will be able to manage comments a little better than I did before. The old comments will probably be lost to the ages. Perhaps it’s just as well. Someone was spamming the entries in the old blog with links to adult content using the “Enter Your URL” section of the “Add Comments” page. I have a good idea of who’s doing it, and I would kindly ask that you knock it off…people read this at work. Please do continue to add commentary, however; I very much enjoy hearing what you have to say.

So sit tight…things are looking up around here.
